WOOT WOOT Another Win at The Poker Loft

Wow what a long day today.....

Started at the 4pm River tourney. There were 38 peeps for a $60 buy-in.

I played almost perfect but never really had a playable hand. I hung onto my stack and made moves when I had to including a huge bluff with half my stack on a 579 board with 42o.

I felt like I needed to win one hand an orbit. The one hand I really wanted back was a UTG raise with ADQD. I really hate playing that hand especially from UTG because I have to hit. I got 2 callers and I was sandwiched. The board came 9C10C10D. I missed it completely and gave up on the hand. I had 2800 left and blinds were 150/300. I felt like I needed those chips so I just checked it. The player in position bet 2/3rds of the pot and I folded.

I got moved to another table (in a 4 table mtt I played at all 4 tables. There was a limp in front of me. The best player at the table folded. There was 750 in the pot already and I looked down and saw ACQC. I felt I needed to push there. The SB thought about it forever. I thought he had AJ the way he thought about it. It was about 1/4 of his stack but he called with A10. I was pretty tickled with the call but the flop came 10 high and I was done.

I then was leaving around 715 and found out the pokerloft rebuy tourney was starting at 8pm. I thought about it, called my wife and I was on my way to the loft.

In looking at the structure, I planned to spend no more than $140. There were 21 players to start at 2 tables. I played retarded loose on the 1st few hands. Called an all-in with 62o. I was in for 50 pretty quick. I then had AK and decided to limp. Sure enough there were 2 pushers in front of me. I called vs 45o and QJ. I hit my A on the flop and they did not improve.

I then had about 6000 and decided to tighten up A LOT. What seemed to be the theme of the day, I got moved to the other table where there were way more chips in play. Blinds were 100/200 and I had about 5500. There was a raise to 600 and I called with KDJD. I was in the BB so it was a cheap flop and there were 6 players in the hand. The flop came AH10D4H. Everyone checked which was wierd. The turn was a 9D. The SB instantly pushed all-in. I figured this was a good spot and got all my chips in (for another $60, I could rebuy) and the another person calls. The first guy didn't show his cards. The other player had a set of 9s and puke I hit my flushie on the river and winning a 20k pot.

At the end of the rebuy period I had 26k in chips (there were only 150k in play) and there were about 17 players left. When we got back from break, I was raising every 2 hand. I was moving chips all around the table. If I was re-raised I would re-raise back. After losing a race and folding 55 to an all-in for a lot of chips I had around 30k.

Then it happens, I get in a big hand because of blind steal. I raised with J7 on the button.

The flop came 766 which isn't a bad flop for J7. He checked to me and I bet 1400 into a pot of about 3000. He raised to 2800. Then I started thinking I made a really weak bet so maybe he wants to steal so I raised 4500 more. He quickly went all-in thought I said call and turned up A6.

I was down to 20000 when the final table started with blinds at 400/800. I felt ok but knew there was a lot of chips in play. I made no moves and no raises and basically folded until were down to 5 handed. I had 14k with blinds 1k/2k and I knew I need to make a move. I was in the BB with AJ and there was a limper in front of me. Everyone else folded. The limper had about 18k. I did not think I could find a better spot so I pushed all-in. He thought for a bit and said this is my favourite hand and called with KJ. Sweet! Just needed to hold up and sure enough I hit an ace and jack on the flop and he was drawing very thin.

I then waited patiently for more busting to happen but before that I tried to get the players to 4 way chop. I was in 4th by a lot but I thought it was worth a shot. No luck they wanted to play it out. So here we go. I am in BB with 3000 in and only 12000 behind me. And MAGIC. UTG bigstack raises to 7500, button goes all-in. I am like great I hope I have Kings or Aces. I look down at my cards and I have 2 black Kings. I couldn't get my chips in fast enough. The all-in had QQ and despite being open ended on the turn (with 2 less outs) he did not improve.

So now I was back in the game with 38000. We all had around 35000 except the CL who had 53000. He downright refused to chop so on we played. And then it happened. He got in a huge hand with the guy who had QQ. The flop was A73 and the CL called an all-in with AJ. The all-in had A7 which held. So the guy who refused to chop had 8500 left. Next hand he pushed allin and busted. So down to 3 handed.

I was really pushing hard for a chop now. The guy with all the chips said he would take 900 of the 2300 left in the pot. The other player was kind of being an ass about it offering me 3rd place money and he would take the rest etc. I just said look if you want to play let's play. I knew for sure barring disaster, I could get into 2nd.

I raised with A10 from the button. The CL called. The flop came A27. He checked, I went allin and he mucked. The next time I was on the button, I raise again with A10 and the CL went all-in, I mucked. The guy in 2nd started trashing me telling me I was busting 3rd for sure. To be honest we chatted after the game and I don't think he meant any harm, he was just trying to rattle me but at this point, I have played way too much to get rattled.

Then it happened...I got QK on the button. I was about to raise and I look at the CL look at his cards and he looked very excited so I mucked. He raised from the SB and the BB instantly said all-in. When you are shortstacked 3 handed there is no better sound then what came next: CL said CALL.

CL had JJ, BB had K10 - lol. I said hey I folded KQ and just like that we were heads up with the CL having 125k and I had 25k. My decision on the chop was simple. I was tired and I was so short. I took an extra 135 and he got 1000 and I got 830. So he got an extra 170. In retrospect it was kind of dumb of me because I think he would have gone for less or I think he would have chopped for let's 900 and 800 and played for the rest. I think I could have beat him because I was only 1 double up away from being ok in chips. But 830 was a good payday. So I spent 170 on the entire day and played for almost 9 hours and made 660 for almost $75/hour but I had a total blast and would have paid to do that.

Sorry if this blog entry is more lengthy and boring that usual. I have written it over 5 different session since last night. Just about to watch Ant Bully with Zach.

Tonight is another game in the Donkey Den!! Woot woot for poker.
