Blah...

Well last night was bad!!!

I had 11 to my house for a one table SNG. It was a very strong field.

I saw no hands really. I think I got 1010 once, called a raise and saw an AK8 board and folded after the flop. I flopped a str8 on all heart board and 2 players had heart flushes. It also did not help that I was playing online in the myst freeroll. At first my intention was to play the freeroll very aggressively and bust early however, the blind structure was great. 2500 in chips to start and really slow moving blinds with no antes.

Early on in the freeroll on the 3rd hand I got KK and doubled up when my opponent hit top pair. Having Myst at my table was not such a great thing because I pushed all-in on him with KQ sooted trying to get the bounty and because I had double the chips he did. Myst was huge with bullets which held up and I was back to starting stack.

I then won a huge hand against Myst after limp calling from mp with 99. The flop came 269 and the BB bet out. I flat called and so did myst. The turn was a 4 and I bet out after it was checked to me. Myst called and the BB folded. The river was another 9 and I value bet my quads (I usually would not value bet here, I would bet close to pot and hope for a call but I wanted to be called with such a great hand) and Myst called with 88.

I then played some tight poker and waited for people to bust. I really didn't build a stack and then got short and pushed all-in with AK and got called by AJ and doubled up. Waiting some more and stole some blinds here and there I got KK and busted 2 players. I then kept waiting for some more chances. Cards were dead and again my M fell around 7. With tight Joey watching he gulped when he saw me push all-in UTG (it was sooted). Everyone folds and the next hand I get AA.

Now I never believe in slow playing a hand like AA but I did here. The SB limped and I checked. The flop came A high and the SB bet pot. I thought about flat calling but I figured he had to have 2 pair or at least the Ace to bet pot so I pushed all-in and he called with KK which was a strange call but I will take it. That hand sent me to the final table.

With about 8 left I pushed all-in with AK and won a race. I then played my usual wait for everyone to bust each other and sure enough we were 4 handed but blinds got to be huge and 3 of us were shortstacked. I got very lucky when I pushed into a raise with A9o and the player had KK. The flop came K103 all spades and I hit a miracle running spades to split.

After that I pushed from the SB with TT and got a fold from the BB. The next time I was in the SB I pushed with A9 and got called for all his chips by the BB with K9 sooted. I had not played with this player much from what I had seen he was not a very good tournament player and his call with K9 was pretty funny. He said it was because he thought I was putting a move on him. Well I could have been and if I had K8 or K7 I was crushed but anything else he was just flipping a coin really. Anyway the K hit and I was crippled and finished 4th and the bad player got 2nd.

I have written before about how some players like to just throw the cards up in the air and gamble for the win. These are the players that it easy to win against but you need to be careful when to push on them. Of course 100 times out of 100 I want that call because anyone happy enough calling all their chips off with a 27% chance to win is someone I want to sit next to. Its just so hard to explain the difference between calling and pushing to weaker poker players, I think I almost give up.

No poker until WNP....
