The Rest of The Vegas Trip - Part 1

After we left the Venetian, I was exhausted mentally. I could not believe how exhausting it was to play that tourney. Normally you end up with a lot of no thinking decisions and I did not. Also the tourney had of total of 4 10 minute breaks in it. Needless to say I was hungry.

During the tourney I started telling Jinny about Samba grill at The Mirage. As soon as we were done at The Venetian we head over to Mirage and ate the most ridicolous amount of meat anyone has ever seen. We were so full after I was ready to pass out but while waiting for Robbie to come back from the bathroom we managed to have 3 beers and play Casino War. This certainly is a dumb game but it was a quick way to burn throgh $100. Once we were done there my body started shutting down and I needed to goto the room. I finally crashed around 11pm. At 2am, I was up and ready to go. I headed down to MGM and really did not feel like playing but did not want to goto bed so I sat down bought in for $200

I do not remember how but I got up to around $320 when I got moved to Dwayne's table. Dwayne got along great with everyone at the table and it seemed like the target at the table was a guy named "hanz". Hanz was a bald older man in his 60s from Germany. He wasnt really German, he was Irish and his name was Pat but boy did this table make fun of him. He was in nearly every hand. Then UTG raised to $15 and the button (hanz) made it $40 to go. I was in the BB with KK and re-popped it to $100. UTG and button both call. Flop came 982 and I pushed allin for $140, UTG folds and Hanz calls off what he has left around $90 with JJ. I hold and Hanz goes to bed and says goodnight.

There was alot of other hands I dont recall. All I remember is the boredom of playing cash games is just too much for me. Dwayne and I met some cool people though and at around 6am, we were ordering shooters. Then Hanz came back to buy-in again. I flat called a $12 raise from Hanz on the button with KQ and the flop came KQ2 with 2 spades. There were 2 other callers. Hanz bet $30, I made it $85 to go and Hanz called. The turn was a Q and I bet $30, Hanz thought for a bit and shoved. I instacalled and Hanz turned over AQ and started telling the dealer he had me outkicked. Hanz then said goodnight again after getting felted for his 4th or 5th time. I ended up around $700 for this session and I felt really good about my cash game play as bored as I was.

It was around 8am at this point and I wanted to go have a nap again before the Venetian tourney again but lets just say, no nap was possible due to Bruno snoring. It was crazy. I got up and went to the Venetian tourney to meet Jinny. When we registered I asked if anyone has ever won the tourney 2 days in a row and the TD told me its never happened.

I settled in at my table and it was a totally crazy table. You get 7500 in chips and we had a 30k pot in the 1st level. Obviously to have a 30k pot you need to have 2 15k pots first. I lost some chips early when I got AK on the button. Blinds were only 25/50 and a super weak player raised to 450, I made it 1200 on the button and the SB re-raised to 3200 and left himself 4100. I asked the guy what he had and he said "top 2 hands". Something told me he was lying but I just didnt want to shove at this point unless I thought he had AQ. I folded and he showed me AK. Not a big deal but now I am down to 6k. A few hands later the guy who lost the 30k (his AA lost to AK) pot raises to 300 and leaves himself just under 3k. It seemed like a tilt raise to me and I had AdKd so I made it 1100 to go. The same guy who 3 bet his AK before flat called behind me leaving himself with around 3500. The original raiser then called. Such a strange play. The flop came Q72 and the original raiser shoved. I had no choice but to fold and the guy behind me calls with AQ, the other guy had QJ. Such a wierd hand.

In the second level (50/100), I have 4k in chips and I am in the BB. It folds to the button and he raised to 500. This same guy had just shoved 4k into a raise and showed 77 when the guy folded. The look down in the BB at JJ and it was really a no brainer for me. I figured there would be so many hands that he called with that I was way ahead of. It turns out he has AK and he calls. I lose the raise and bust after 40 minutes or so. That play did not bother me at all because of the kind of blind structure it was going to be hard to play shortstacked.

I decided I needed a little break from poker and it was off to the coach store for me. Long story short, this was a long expensive trip and resulted in one of my fingers getting stuck in a drawer. zjm loved her coach stuff so it was worth the trip. I waited almost an hour for a cab and finally got back to MGM and played for a couple of hours. I dropped 2 quick buy-ins there. One of them on a bad bluff which I don't even recall the hand (it must have been bad). I recovered a bit and ended up down around $250.

We decided to go somewhere nice for dinner and hit up The Fix at The Bellagio. Before dinner I hit the blackjack table and dropped $100. I got in an argument with the dealer who told a girl not to double down with 7 when he had a 6 showing. That is dumb advice in my opinion and it cost me $80 (I doubled down on 7 and he hit 21).

The Fix was great, it cost us another $100 each but well worth it. After we eat, I started to shut down again and went right back to the room to sleep. I was in bed by 11ish and apparently slept through the maniac cash game which was a good thing because noone loves maniac poker like me but it would have been expensive I am sure.

This brought us to Saturday morning which is continued in Part 2....
