Everyone and I mean everyone complains I only write in my blog when I win. Well today I am going to write about losing. LOSING SUCKS!
But honestly, I thought I played one of my best games ever. Here is a rundown of the significant hands:
Early on, I barely played any hands although I won a few hands with straight steals. The 2 biggest pots I lost early on was with AK that did not hit. After that it was apparent playing real hands was not going to work so....
I waiting patiently and doubled up with JJ vs A7 in the 70/140 level (although I did double up earlier with K3 vs 89). This got me to 3400 in chips. I then misplayed a hand terribly (and this is the biggest reason I am writing my blog today).
We were playing 5 handed and the button limped. I had Q5o in the sb. The BB checked. The flop came Q24 with 2 spades. I bet out 300. The BB flat called and the button folded. The turn was an Ac. I bet out 500 and the BB pushed all-in. Without hesitation I insta-called to the point where the BB who I think has a lot of respect for my game said he was sure he was either drawing very thin or dead however he had me crushed and he turned over Q9. My logic for my call was that for one it was not going to bust me (although cripple me down to 900) and it was a perfect spot to bluff with so many different hands. I knew if I was wrong and he had a stronger Q, I still had 6 outs to chop and 7 outs to win. It was a loose call and one that I so rarely make it kind of shocked the people watching.
The next 90 minutes or so of play was probably the best display of shortstack ninja ever. If I listed out the hands I pushed with, I would probably never be able to push all-in again. My best show of my life was getting someone to turn over an ace after I had just pushed all-in and said I was huge and somehow got the player who expose one of my cards to turn over the right card. Secretly they were both were aces but only I know for sure. :)
I pushed with 53o and got called by AQ and won a big pot. Then people started busting all over the place. All of a sudden we were down to 5 handed on the bubble and I made a bad bluff at a big pot. I think more than half the time my opponent folds so it was not a horrible bluff but it did not win me the hand. Now very short I tried for another miracle and pushed with 62o. I got called by AQ and despite being open ended against A high on the turn, I did not hold. I played for 4 hours, I got JJ once and AK twice and lost with the AK both times and I still bubbled. I made the most out of absolutely nothing and almost made the money.
Lastly, I had a long chat with someone (and they know who they are) about the things I say at the table. I made a promise that I would change that and I had a lot more fun last night because of that. I just wanted to say thank you to them for the chat. Although I did not win a cent, I had a blast.
