Fluking WNP

Someone commented on jackseven the other day that I only write in my blog after I win money. They are so correct in that assessment. I am not sure why but writing after a loss seems wrong. Maybe I will do it soon. I told everyone last night I use my blog to remind of things I did right and when I lose, I did something wrong.

WNP last night had 18 people. I got there with 6.5 minutes left in the first level. Blinds were 10/20. There was no chair for me to sit at because I was late and I was the 9th at the 8 man table. Since I did not have a seat I was not anxious to play my first hand as I preferred to get setup. It was folded to me in the co and I looked down at KK. So here I go first hand- weee.....I raised to 80. The button who was a new player calls. Everyone else folded. I am still standing at this point. The flop came QT3 with 2 diamonds. I did not have a diamond. I bet 160 and the button raised 200 more. I thought about flat calling here but I was not sure if he was on a draw so I decided to raise 600 more. I figured if he pushed I could fold, if he called I could put on the brakes. I was hoping he would fold. He flat called and the turn was a black 9. I checked, he checked. At that point I was pretty certain I was good but could only bet a safe river. The river brought the 4d, not a safe card, I checked again and the button checked and turned over QJ. So just like that I was over 3000.

2 hands later, Skip raised and I flat called with 89s. There was a shortstacked caller in between, I thought about re-raising right there to steal preflop but I figured I would see a flop. The flop came Q42 with 2 spades. Skip bet and the shortstacked player flat called which was weird but I thought what the heck and I raised about pot. Skip folded and the shortstacked player pushed. One of the weirdest illogical plays ever as he called half his stack then pushed into a re-raise but not much I can do. He turns over As7s for a higher flush draw. I miss my 6 outs and go back to 2000. I got up to 3400 in kind of a dirty hand....

I had 99 in the BB. There was a late position limp and the SB completed. I bet the flop and the limper folded. The SB raised. I the board was 864. I thought he might have hit 2 pair but for some reason I thought he may have check-raised with tptk. I call the re-raise and the turn was a T. He bet 500 and left himself with 500. I could not understand why he left himself 500 so I thought maybe he hit the 8 and felt he needed to bet out but wanted to give himself a chance to fold. I thought worst case he had two pair and I had 12 outs against that (unless he had T8). I pushed leaving myself around 700 if I lost, he showed 84o for 2 pair. The river was a 6 for one of my 12 outs and I fluked my first hand of many on the night.

. And then one of the worst suckouts I have ever hit happened where I could not fault the player one bit for sucking out.

Skip raised to 180 at the 30/60 level. I called in position with 6D9D. One of the tightest players at the table called from the blinds. The flop cam 458 rainbow. The BB checked, skip checked and I wanted to bet but I thought, if a 7 hits and if one of them has a 6, it will almost be impossible for them to fold. I decided to check to try to hit a big hand. Magic on the turn as the 7 hits and I am sitting with the nuts, in position. Even better, the tight BB player bets pot. Skip goes to put his stack in the middle and then pulls some back and puts in a raise, I immediately push overtop allin. Tight player folds...skips thinks for a bit and calls. I try to turn over both cards but only turn over a 9, then finally get the 6 turned over and skip turns over a 6. The river is a 9 and I was so upset for having to chop such a large pot. Skip turns over a T as his other card and he starts chopping the pot. While chopping the other players started saying its not a chop, I look at the board one more time and realize that skip now has a T high straight and I have a 9 high straight. GROSS. I was down to 850 in chips after losing a HUGE pot.

I was all-in 4 of the next 6 hands. I made it to through the 70/140 level all the way down to 1100 in chips. I really needed a double up. I pushed with 9To the last hand before the break and was instacalled by KQ. The flop came 8J7 and the nuts held. Onto the break and I had chips now. When the final table finally started I had around 4200. At the final table I raised to 750 with QQ in late position. Blinds were 100/200 and the SB only had 750 left. He called everyone else folded including a limper. He showed AT and the limper showed AT but of course the door card was an Ace...argh..I was happy he did not have more chips. I kicked and scraped along waiting for an opportunity. Blinds got all the way up to 400/800 5 handed. Skip raised to 1900 from the CO. I only had 3700 total and was in the SB with AQ........I had no choice but to push although hate doing it because I know he is calling. That gross disgusting feeling happened when the BB starts thinking of calling. YUCK. He called, skip folded and BB turns over AK....I got very lucky and hit a Q to double up.

The next hand i was in the BB, a UTG player called for all his chips (he only had 800). The sb completed and I had 95os. I really wanted to re-raise there and try to steal some dead money but I decided to check. The flop came 235 with 2 diamonds. The SB checked to me and I bet 1200. He only had 2900 left so I figured if he pushed I could fold. He flat called which was bizarre. The turn was the 9 of diamonds and he pushed allin. I thought maybe he had a piece and a diamond or an overpair like 66 or 77. I could not see him flatting with a diamond draw so I called and he turned over Q7 diamonds so I lost another big pot.

Blinds got all the way up to 500/1000 and we were on the bubble. There was a lot of pushing and when the bubble finally burst I had K9 hearts UTG and got call by K7. I held and doubled up and then waited for 3 handed. With the blinds capped at this point I went all-in nearly everytime I had the button. I really had to get lucky to get to heads-up. James finally called and showed ACKC, I had QCTC but again I got lucky and hit a Q and took down a nice pot. James was short now and pushed the next hand, I called with AJ and hit a straight on the turn.

The time was now 2:30am and even though I had a slight chiplead BRUNO and I even chopped. He was just too good for me to face heads up so I figured a chop was in order.

I am playing in a deepstacks on Friday night. Those are by far my favourite events so I am hoping to do well.
